Dance, music, painting join in portraying 'The Nine Sins'
Arizona Daily Star; Tucson, Ariz.; Mar 16, 2001; Jennifer Lee Carrell;

Abstract:
O-T-O Dance joins visual artist Bradley W. Pattison and poet Paul Fisher to explore "The Nine Sins" - a number of failings that surprised all the artists involved, because they expected, at the project's start, to discover the more famous set of "Seven Deadly Sins."

Pattison has painted the sins, while Fisher hammered out a Sin Sonnet Cycle. O-T-O and other artists have added dance, music video and theatrical elements to a show that aims to amuse, entertain, educate and scandalize.

O-T-O Dance joins visual artist Bradley W. Pattison and poet Paul Fisher to explore "The Nine Sins" - a number of failings that surprised all the artists involved, because they expected, at the project's start, to discover the more famous set of "Seven Deadly Sins."

According to Anne Bunker, artistic director of O-T-O, however, a little research revealed a nasty nine: Pride, Avarice, Anger, Gluttony, Unchastity, Envy, Vainglory, Gloominess and Languid Indifference.

What on earth, you may ask, is languid indifference? And what happened to greed and lust? The same question occurred to the artists; this show is the multimedia result of their investigations.

Pattison has painted the sins, while Fisher hammered out a Sin Sonnet Cycle. O-T-O and other artists have added dance, music video and theatrical elements to a show that aims to amuse, entertain, educate and scandalize.

The performance deals with adult themes; children are not encouraged to attend.

The show opens at 8 p.m. next Friday; it repeats at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. March 24 and April 6, and 8 p.m. April 6 in the Ortspace Studios, 121 E. Seventh St. (at Seventh Avenue).

Tickets cost $10; seating is limited. 624-3799 or www.O-T-O.org. Also available at Bentley's, 1730 E. Speedway; Antigone Books, 411 N. Fourth Ave.; and Silverbell Trading, 7007 N. Oracle Road.
